Bio
Hello there. My name is Leonardo, Leo for short. I am a pixel artist, animator and game designer, working on my own projects with my spouse under our studio Flannel Bear Games.
I graduated in Graphic and Digital Design, and developing games has been one of my biggest passions for as long as I remember (I know it sounds a bit cliché). I always loved drawing from a very young age and around 2017 decided to learn Pixel Art, which is my favourite art style. In 2017, I moved from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Toronto, Canada in order to study Game Design and further improve my skills.
I have always loved playing video games, so I decided to start developing my own smaller projects with my spouse and friends through some Game Jams on 2018. Later in 2020, my spouse and I began working on our first big project: Gedda Cake! As we worked on the development of the game, we noticed the scope of the project was too big for a first game and would require more funds to complete, so we decided to pivot to a smaller game on August 2022: Crafty Survivors. Fast forward to today, Crafty Survivors has been out on Early Access for almost a year, and I have been working as the sole artist of both games for our small studio Flannel Bear Games.
On another note, I also enjoy narrative design and have been writing the stories of both our games, trying to bring more life into these small digital worlds.
Gedda Cake is a 2D action-platformer about Dragons and Cakes. Play as 6 unique characters with over-the-top personalities and explore the vast sugar-coated lands of Sugria. Swap freely between them and use their unique abilities to conquer obstacles and battle dangerous foes in this sweet-toothed adventure. Help them reclaim their invaded world and, of course, get The Cake!
You can play Gedda Cake’s demo on Steam!
As the artist of the game, I am responsible for creating all the visual assets and animations of Gedda Cake, implementing them inside of Unity Engine, from characters, enemies, backgrounds and tilemaps, UI assets and visual effects. I am also the narrative writer, so I developed the cut scenes inside of the engine as well.
Crafty Survivors is an action-RPG survival roguelite, where players unlock diverse cast of uncommon classes to fight monsters and survive.
All heroes got corrupted! Unlock a diverse cast of crafty professionals, use their unique skills, create your own builds and defend your home by eliminating hordes of monsters. Gather materials, rebuild your village and craft your way to the origin of this malignous curse!
Crafty Survivors is currently out on Early Access!
